Unloading week at the gym to avoid a plateau
Hi everyone, I've been a carnivore for a year and a half now, and for the past six months I've been training every four to five days using Mike Mentzer's Heavy Duty method. Since February 2026, I've been working with a personal trainer and increasing my calorie intake. I've gone from 72kg to 78kg (I'm 193cm tall), half fat and half muscle. My progress in the gym is improving week by week, especially in my legs. My personal trainer is now considering a 1/2 weeks de-training program to avoid a performance plateau. I was wondering, does a fat-adapted PKD, with about 150g of protein and 200-250g of fat daily, need de-training? I don't notice any fatigue during or after workouts; in fact, I'm always full of energy. But don't ketones support the nervous system effectively enough to prevent the buildup of fatigue?
