Looking for clarification on what's needed to move to highschool
Hello! I am a recent graduate and am currently finishing my first year-long LTO. I graduated being qualified for primary/junior, and then took my intermediate phys. ed. ABQ so I could teach 7/8.
I'm also interested in teaching highschool at some point, but I'm having trouble understanding what exactly I need to do to get qualified.
- I understand you need 2 teachables for highschool. I graduated with a degree in English and Sociology, so I could do, for example, the ABQs for senior english and senior social science, and I could then teach highschool, is that correct?
- Right now, even though my intermediate ABQ was in phys ed, I'm able to teach all of the grade 7/8 subjects (in my board, we don't have a rotary system for 7/8, so I teach math, geography, history for example). Since the intermediate ABQ technically goes up to grade 10, does that mean I'm able to teach any subject for grades 9 or 10, or only phys ed?
- Do ABQs work backwards? For example, if you get senior English, are you automatically qualified for intermediate (grade 9 and 10) English or do you have to take that course separatley?
Thank you in advance -- I've tried so hard to find this information and can't seem to find clear answers.
