Chasing away the Sunday blues on a boring Sunday night

Blue shadow applied from my eyelids to my brows, with a whisper of blue on my under eye. I attempted (but failed) to gradually sheer the shadow outwards. I lined my eyes with black shadow and slightly buffed it. Clumped my mascara to get a doll-like, 60s vibe. This look screams for spidery false lashes

Played around with a burgundy eyeshadow near my lashes on both my top and bottom lid. I'm always surprised by how brown burgundies look on my skin from an arm's length away.

The rest of my top lid was lightly colored with a tan shadow. I regrettably added some glitter. Not terrible, but superfluous. Bronzer on cheeks

For my lips, I've been putting on lipstick then adding a gray-leaning black eyeliner to it. This liner is exclusively for my lips. If you want to try this out, look up the ingredients and make sure they're safe near your mouth

Linda Evangelista is looking a little different here...Hold on, that's not her!

These images are from legendary MUA, Kevyn Aucoin's Face Forward (2000). Here, Kevyn transformed his friend and former boyfriend into Linda Evangelista. I just love this transformation. At a glance, all I see is Linda

The book includes the basics of make up, such as tools needed, skin prep etc. and tutorials. The tutorials can be roughly split into 3 categories: everyday make up, transformative make up (turning models+celebrities into other celebrities) and speculative make up.

Aucoin explicitly states that he will not include the brands of products, though it frustrates many. He reasons that the products will be discontinued soon. I love this. It makes the tutorials more timeless

Anyway, if anyone here has a chance to read this, or any other make up book, I highly recommend it. They can really expand your understanding of it.

Edit: I really should have pointed out that there is yellowface and redface in this book. I recommend reading SaintGalentine's comments. They include a quote from what I believe is Making Faces. There, Kevyn Aucoin uses Orientalist language to describe Anna May Wong+Asian people and cultures, all to introduce Andie MacDowell in yellowface. As SaintGalentine mentioned, one hopes hopes he would have eventually recognized his ignorance and educated himself if he had lived
