I have over 500 CDs, and have been collecting CDs since they first started being sold in the U.S. in the 90s. My first two purchases were Billy Joel’s Glass Houses and Springsteen’s Live 1975-1985 box set.

I store much of my collection in cardboard boxes that are cut to display my CDs. Currently I have about 15 of these and each holds roughly 15 CDs. I’ve covered the boxes with colored duct tape. I keep four boxes close by and swap them out with other boxes so I can rotate by collection.
