Picked up a few CDs today
Biggest collection I’ve ever bought. Roughly 15,000 CDs. Loaded and unloaded during an extreme heat warning, so I’m too tired to start looking through them. Less than 10 cents each even with $200 truck rental.

My personal favorite Vain albums. Thoughts and opinions?
I collect music in both formats, with CDs a little more because of their price, however I enjoy vinyl aswell, and I find that sometimes buying new vinyl records may feel a little more rewarding, but my question is:
In a social environment, where I have groups of friends to gather around and we play music on physical format, in your opinion, which one may be better, or suit better to the environment?
I ask because ive been with friends where we may set up a turntable and play select records, but we never really finish through them, but the experience is still fun, but id like to know if CDs will work well aswell
I've got both formats, however I have more of my favourite albums on CD, or I have albums on one format that I dont have on the other, like more Beatles related on vinyl, or more Pink Floyd on the other, would the experience of playing CDs with friends hold up to the experience of playing vinyl around with them? Like we can all bring our fsvourite records and play them on a turntable for all of us, but CDs are better for transport, which means you can bring more for better selection, but im not sure about the experience
Id like to hear your opinion, based on your own experiences if you've had them, whether you may prefer one or another? Id just like a taste of what it may be like before I do it with my friends next, as we all have varied physical media collections and we'd be good to have both
Sorry for lengthy post...
I’m curious, what’s everyone’s favorite CD in your collection?
My favorite CD in mine is Lover of a Ghost - Violent Vira. I’m excited to see the short film premiere for this album at the end of the month (at Gramercy theatre)
My thrifted CD rack from goodwill’s 4th of July sale…$3! Filled it up with all my woman artists…because i’m just a millennial girl 🎀 all my cds are second hand too!!
I grabbed all of these for $8.99 each at my local CD/Record store. I'm especially happy that I found the non remaster pressings of Metallica, Nirvana, Van Halen and Dire Straits.
I tried cleaning the lens already. When turned on, it makes the same noise regardless of whether there’s a disc in it or not, like it can’t tell.
Ive got one more coming
This one is pretty cool. I always like finding CDs that aren't shaped like normal.
Has anyone seen one of these before? Can't find any more information about it online. Found it in the original cellophane.
I'm assuming this is a stupid question, but the recent announcement of Playstation ending disc production has me spooked, so I'm asking this here since Google wasn't much help. Obviously Sony controls all of the Playstation disc production, so it's very easy for them to stoo game disc production. But, they also helped develop the Blue Ray and the CD. So that had me wondering:
- How much control does Sony currently have with the general production of CDs (not publishing or pressing, but the actual manufacturing of the discs themselves)?
- Could Sony stop the production of them wholesale or strong arm partners to do so? I don't know if CDs are used much more these days outside of selling pre recored music, so would that just effect labels?
- What would Sony have to gain from ending CD production beyond general manufacturing cost savings? Yeah, they have their own label, but they don't have a music platform where they've cornered the market like the Playstation Store does for games. It's not like they own Spotify or something, so I'm not sure how much control they would gain over the music industry by cutting off CD production.
Sorry if this post isn't allowed, but I'm genuinely curious if you all have any insight on this. Thank you.
