How should we choose universities in Korea for GKS? What parameters should we consider?

Hi everyone! I’m planning to apply for the GKS Graduate Scholarship and I’m currently researching which universities to choose.

I’m a little confused about how we should actually evaluate universities beyond just their ranking or reputation. For GKS applicants, what are the most important factors we should consider before finalizing our university choices?

For example:

- University reputation/ranking in Korea and internationally

- Reputation of the specific department/program

- Quality of the curriculum and courses

- Career and job opportunities after graduation

- Employment opportunities for international students

- University’s location and cost of living

- Availability of scholarships/financial support beyond GKS

- Internship and networking opportunities

- Industry connections and alumni network

- How well-known the university is among Korean employers

- Difficulty/competitiveness of admission

- English-taught courses and language requirements

- Korean language support for international students

- Research opportunities and faculty

- For MBA/Global Business/International Business programs, whether the degree has good value in the Korean job market

Also, how much weight should we give to university ranking vs. program reputation vs. job prospects?

For those who are current GKS scholars, graduates, or have experience studying/working in Korea, what parameters did you consider when choosing your universities, and is there anything you wish you had checked before applying?

Any advice or personal experiences would be really helpful. Thank you!

GKS G2027: Embassy Track or University Track?

(India)Hi everyone! I’m a GKS 2027 aspirant and I’m confused about which track would be better for my profile.

My profile:

- B.Sc. (Hons) Mathematics from University of Delhi, CGPA 2.9/4

- 16 months of work experience in a bank (Wealth & Trade Department)

- Participated in university societies and volunteered at Korean cultural events in Delhi

- NISM certification

- Planning to take IELTS and GMAT soon

- Interested in International Business / Global MBA

Considering my profile, which would you recommend: Embassy Track or University Track? And why?

Any advice from previous GKS applicants would be really helpful. Thank you!

Regarding acceptance letter

Hello,

I wanted to ask regarding acceptance letter . I have listened in some of YouTube videos that acceptance letter from professor is really important for csc scholarship as most of the masters program in China are research based so if I want to do masters in international business still I need acceptance letter as even if it is not research based program.

Title: Need Advice: Apply for Fall Intake Now or Wait for GKS 2027?

India .

Hello everyone,

I am a prospective GKS 2027 applicant and would really appreciate some advice from people who have gone through the process or are currently studying in South Korea.

A little about my profile:

B.Sc. (Hons.) Mathematics from the University of Delhi

Currently working at ICICI Bank in the Wealth and Trade Department

By August, I will have 1 year of work experience

Strong extracurricular background (college society involvement, certificates, events, etc.)

NISM certifications

Planning to take IELTS around August

Considering taking TOEFL next year as well

Interested in pursuing a Master's in International Business, MBA, or Global MBA in South Korea

My dilemma is this:

Since GKS 2027 applications are still several months away, should I:

Apply for the Fall 2027 (August/September) university intakes and try to secure admission on my own, while also preparing for GKS as a backup?

Focus entirely on GKS 2027, strengthen my profile further, prepare for the GMAT if it would significantly improve my chances?

The reason I'm considering applying earlier is that I genuinely want to pursue my master's abroad as soon as possible. and studying in South Korea is my top priority.

Based on my profile, what would you recommend? Is applying for both regular university admissions and GKS a good strategy, or should I focus on just one path?
