11 week old sleep patterns

My LO is 11.5 weeks old now… time flies!

She has NEVER been a good sleeper but we are finally at the point where she will sleep in her crib independently for the first stretch of the night! Up until about 7 weeks it was my husband and I taking shifts while she slept on our chests for day and night sleep. Brutal.

Now, she will sleep on her own in the crib for the first stretch of the night anywhere from 2.5-4ish hours. She has done a stretch of 5 hours one time with us going in the room and putting the binky back in. Last night she did 9pm-230am but that was with a couple of quick wake ups to soothe without taking her out of the crib. Honestly, I was stoked.

My issue/question is once she is up from that initial wake up to feed after her first stretch, she is so restless the rest of the night. I know she’s sleepy and tired and just wants to go back to sleep herself but she thrashes and tosses and cannot keep herself asleep. It’s to the point I just bring her into the guest bed with me after that first stretch to cosleep because it seems like it’s nonstop- as in every 30min to an hour. It is just easier for me to try to soothe her while in the same bed then sleeping on the nursery floor. Even with cosleeping, im sleep deprived. it is not active sleep because if I do let it go on, she does wake up crying.

I do suspect it may be gas related as she does have some crying fits throughout the day but she does easily pass gas, albeit a lot, when sitting in a squat position with her knees up on my legs.

We do gas drops with every bottle, keep upright after feeds, paced feeding, great easy burps, bicycle kicks extremely frequently….she is EFF on similac sensitive. You name it, we do it.

Is this normal and she will grow out of it? Or is this worth investigating more, such as a formula change?

TLDR: 11 week old restless after first stretch of the night potentially due to gas. Looking for any help!

Typing this through tears….

I’m a FTM and my LO is 9 weeks tomorrow. As of two days ago she is intermittently inconsolable morning through evening. Nothing soothes her apart from eventually tiring out. I do the 5 S’, gas drops, bicycle kicks, warm bath, dark room etc. The only consolation is she is getting longer stretches of sleep at night, maybe from tiring herself out from all the crying. She also seems to be eating way less and refusing the bottle. She is on similac sensitive (EF) and has been for weeks so I’m not sure what is going on. I have also been very mindful of wake windows and even shortening them a bit to prevent her from being overtired. She is fighting naps like you wouldn’t believe or not staying asleep for long.

Last week she was an angel from heaven. All she did was pound formula and sleep. I thought I had the perfect baby. What an idiot I am.

I am aware of purple crying, but thought that really only happened in the evening? I also think she’s a little old to develop colic suddenly at 9 weeks. If it’s gas, I’m really not sure what else more I could be doing.

Please help!!
