Beware Best Western Secaucus NJ
Stayed with my wife for 5 nights last month. Had requested no housekeeping upon check in and had it noted in hotel system.
The 2nd day came back to my room in the early evening to find my room door open, the deadbolt deployed so the door could never close.
My wife was scared to enter, so I went into the room. I found her suitcase had been opened.
I immediately went to the front desk to file an incident report. This was on a Friday, and the hotel manager didn’t contact me until Tuesday. I also filed a report with Best Western corporate and sent detailed emails to the VP named Mark Hoefling who as of today which is over 3 weeks have never heard back from. This VP Mark Hoefling is an example of the inferior quality of guest service as well as the lack of accountability, courtesy and management level you experience at Best Western.
I received emails from the director of housekeeping acknowledging the fact the staff entered my room even though the system was set up with a do not enter, as well as the fact they left my door open. This allowed not only staff, but anyone to enter my room, go through my belongings and potential hide and wait to attack my wife and family.
The hotel manager didn’t think this was a big issue as she made an insulting offer of $75 off one of my 5 nights booked. Her reasoning was I didn’t check out, and the incident only happened once.
I have supporting emails admitting to the incident. More importantly, with visitors coming to that area for the summer and especially the World Cup, I would highly recommend avoiding Bedt Western Secaucus if you value your family’s safety and security.
I also recommend avoiding any Best Western if the VP Mark Hoefling feels a security incident is below his position to respond
