Fighting with Vinted over return of MY item
Has anyone dealt with Vinted refusing to return their item unless they pay for a shipping label?
I sold a laptop on Vinted for 126€. Because of their new verification process, the laptop was sent to their verification hub in Vilnius. It allegedly failed verification (didn’t bother to give me any details, it simply ‚failed’ 🙃) and was returned to me but Vinted sent it to a DPD pickup point located around 2 hours away from my home.
I contacted support before the pickup deadline and explained that I couldn’t collect it from that location. They told me to wait for support assistance, but nobody actually helped before the parcel was automatically returned to Vinted in Lithuania.
Now they say the only way to get MY laptop back is to buy a DPD LT shipping label (~25 EUR) at my own expense and send it to them. I refused because the situation happened due to their failure, not mine.
They keep repeating the same template response and are now threatening that if I don’t provide the label within the deadline, they may “dispose of” or “sell” my laptop under their retention policy (!).
I’ve already escalated the case to the European Consumer Centre (ECC), but I’m wondering:
has anyone successfully fought this with Vinted?
can they legally keep/sell someone’s property like this?
any advice on how to push this further?
I have screenshots of all communication and proof that I contacted support before the parcel was returned.
