I’m kinda confused about the whole AI + VS Code setup thing.

I wanna use VS Code with AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Ollama, etc while working on projects. Like code generation, debugging, explanations, project help, maybe even local models.

But I don’t understand:

what actually needs to be installed

difference between APIs, VS Code extensions, and Ollama

how people “integrate Claude into VS Code”

what setup is best for a beginner

Can someone explain the overall workflow in simple terms and what setup you’d recommend?
