Is the most popular diamond shape also the most expensive?

Is the most popular diamond shape also the most expensive?

Scrolling through listings and I'm confused because the same general specs can be way different depending on shape. I need help with pricing because I can't tell what part of the price jump is normal versus just people charging extra for what everyone wants. Round looks higher most of the time, but when I try oval or pear the price drops a lot even when the color and clarity are similar.

I also dont know f cut grade is being priced differently across shapes, like maybe it's easier to hide issues in some shapes and that changes what sellers label as good. If you were shopping with a set budget, would you pick a less popular shape to get better specs, or is there a catch with sparkle and visible tint that makes the cheaper shapes not actually a better deal.

Ladies, share your unique engagement rings! Need some inspo.

Hey everyone! New to this subreddit. My partner and I have been ring shopping for a while, and I’ve always leaned toward the classic, an oval solitaire lab diamond was my go-to, and I never really explored other options.

But today, we happened to walk past a ring shop and tried on a few different styles just for fun. I looked at the oval solitaire again, and while it’s absolutely stunning, I couldn’t help but feel a little… bored. I’m looking for inspo and really want to see styles that stand out, whether it’s the setting, stone shape, or overall design. Feel free to share pics.

I have been wanting one for a while now but I have no idea where to even start looking. Do most people buy from a local jeweler or is there somewhere else people usually go?
Also is it worth the price or does it end up being one of those things you wear twice and forget about.
Genuinely asking because I dont want to spend that kind of money and regret it later.
