Questions about flexibility, practical learning & lecture format for Master of Creative Industries + Master of Marketing (Dual Degree)

I’m an incoming international student. I’ll be starting my course in July 2026.

Does the flexibility ever become confusing or overwhelming?

Do students feel like they need to figure everything out themselves?

Or is the flexibility actually one of the best parts of the degree?

Are lectures mostly online, offline, or hybrid? Do we get to choose?

Are recordings of classes available regularly?

How much of the course depends on self-study vs classroom interaction? How practical would you say the degree is overall?

Do they offer industry projects, real-world assignments, portfolio-building opportunities, collaboration with actual brands/clients, software/tools/platforms used in industry

I interested in job roles like creative strategy/branding/content-related roles in the future.

I’d really appreciate hearing from current students or graduates about whether the course genuinely helps build industry-ready skills or if it feels more theory-heavy.

If anyone is going to start this program or either of the two programs this July, let’s connect!

Thank you :)

Requested a change in course after I paid fees for first semester

Hi! I’m from India and had got an offer letter for Master of Marketing. And before I had paid the fees I requested if I could change my course to dual degree of Master of marketing and master of media and communication.

I got rejected for it. And I just paid fees for master of marketing offer letter.

But now I saw the dual degree - master of marketing and master of creative industries. And sent an email asking if it’s possible to change. I haven’t received the COE yet and I have sent an email asking if it’s possible.

I’m scared after asking twice I will be completely rejected to do any masters program at Macquarie!!

I have a 1.6 years of experience in creative production and worked in marketing

My professional experiences have primarily been centred around creative communication, content production and digital media. I have worked on content creation, video editing and graphic design projects that required both creative thinking and audience-focused communication.

I developed an interest in branding, storytelling and media strategy, particularly in how creative content can shape audience engagement and brand identity across digital platforms.

So because I have experience I feel like I took a calculated risk. But I’m super scared now!

What do you think will happen?
Do people do this? Request change in courses???
