Resting energy randomly dropped and messed up my calorie counting

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this. My usual resting energy burn in Apple Health (synced with my Apple Watch) dropped by about 400+ calories overnight with no obvious reason. Because of it, I now have to burn nearly 1,000 active calories before I start earning bonus calories in Lose It!, whereas I normally reach that point around 600 active calories.
I ran several BMR calculations and they all put me around 2,000 calories per day, so I'm having a hard time understanding how my resting energy could suddenly drop so dramatically from one day to the next. There haven't been any major changes to my weight, activity level, or routine.
Has anyone else seen this happen? Is it a known Apple Health/Apple Watch glitch, or is there something I should check in my settings?

More Context:

-Im technically in the highly active range but I have it set at somewhat active in the app
-I just did a hard restart on both my watch and phone and i can’t tell if anything changed
