I came across an IG story about a community cat that was hit by a car driven by an Ateneo Law student near Rockwell Makati. The student reportedly argued that he was not liable because he had the right to drive his car up the ramp, and that he did not bring the cat to the vet because he had class to attend. He also allegedly said that the person reporting the incident had not shown any basis for holding him liable.
Facts:
- the student ran over a community cat, which in effect caused a fracture to the cat’s pelvic bone + tail bone
- left the cat there in pain to go to his class
- argued he’s not liable despite the damage he’s done
- said that the lack of supervision on the community cat’s caretaker shows the willingness to take on the risk of being runover
- the reporter and the cats of rockwell community shouldered the expenses and the mother cat along with her babies were already adopted
- the reporter already asked Ateneo to investigate and she was told they’re doing so in a fair manner
