Post-Allergy Shot Hive
Hi, all-
I’m on week 4 of allergy shots. The first two weeks I had some pretty strong systemic responses, which tracks given recent allergy tests (allergist’s scoring only goes up to 4, he had to, and I quote, create a whole new score just for me lol). The past two shots have been much better, since I finally figured out the right dose of meds to keep everything uncomfortable but not concerning.
One thing I’m curious about (not worried, thankfully as my doctor is only open Mondays and Fridays) is that for both the shots and the testing I had hives that weren’t big- about the size of a dime, maybe- but they last for a DOG’S AGE. I’m talking, four weeks in, and I carry three hives all exactly where the shot was placed In the three different locations. No other hives, no changing shape. They just….hang out and sometimes get itchy. Same thing happened with the allergy tests. It took over a month for them to go away. They never spread, they never grew. Just tagged along for the ride.
Is this normal? Do others experience it? I couldn’t find anything on Google and I’m not sure if it’s not normal or if my research skills aren’t up to par. Should I mention it when I get my next shot?
