Like title says, on my monthly Fido statement, Fido is calling my Vanguard VGT shares "VANGUARD WORLD FD INF TECH ETF" (my emphasis). Why the 'world fund' addition? According to the interwebs, including Vanguard, VGT is "Vanguard Information Technology ETF" which is a sector specific domestic stock fund. There is no "World" in the actual name and the fund's top holdings are US/domestic companies. Fido is incorrectly implying this is a "world" fund which puts it in a different (and wrong) asset class. Not a huge deal, but why would they do this? What am I missing?
