Bluetooth mic completely broken after One UI 8.5 update. Samsung Service claims dead motherboard ($700 repair). Need advice!
Hey everyone,
I’m facing a frustrating issue with my S24u after updating to One UI 8.5 a few days ago, and I wanted to check if anyone else is experiencing something similar.
Every time I enter a call (cell, whatsapp, Teams, etc.), my bluetooth microphone doesn't work. Nobody can hear me.
Interestingly, audio playback (music, youTube, etc.) works 100% fine on the exact same devices. The issue is strictly with the microphone input stream during calls.
It happens with my Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, my car's Bbuetooth system or any other Bluetooth devices with a mic.
The Buds are fine: I paired them to a Galaxy A56, and the mic works flawlessly there.
Restarting the phone fixes the mic immediately, but only for a day or two before it glitches out again.
I did a full factory reset over the weekend. The phone worked perfectly for about 4 days, then today the bug randomly returned.
The Samsung Service Drama :(
I went to an official Samsung Service Center today. They ran their automated diagnostic tool, it showed a Bluetooth issue, and they immediately claimed it’s a "motherboard Bluetooth chip failure" and quoted me around $700 to replace the entire motherboard since I'm out of warranty.
Personally, I think this is total bs. A physical hardware defect doesn't magically fix itself with a software restart, nor does it work perfectly for 4 straight days after a factory reset.
Has anyone else noticed their Bluetooth mic acting up or dying during calls after the recent update? If you found a permanent fix (or at least a workaround that doesn't involve restarting the phone every day), please let me know!
TL -> One UI 8.5 broke my Bluetooth mic in calls ( Buds 3 Pro ,car or any bluetooth dev. with a mic). Restart fixes it temporarily. Factory reset fixed it for 4 days then it came back.
Anyone else?
