Clingy cat hates when I shower
I (22M) have a 6 year old male cat, Toothless.
From day one he has been VERY clingy. He follows me around our small apartment all day and is constantly watching me if he is not asleep.
He will not eat his dry food or drink water unless I stand within 2 feet of him. When he gets his wet food feedings I need to sit with him and hold the plate. I have gotten a bin that stands at his preferred eating height so I can pretend to hold the plate now but if my hands move so does he.
When I use the bathroom he sits on my lap or uses his litter box which is within 2 feet of my toilet. He waits until I am in the bathroom with him to use the litter box.
This is all a normal part of my life, most things I do revolve around catering to him and I do not mind that at all!
Now for the actual problem…
Every time I have to shower, he sits in between my two shower curtains and watches while meowing consistently. His cries grow louder and more frequent once I am drying myself off. As soon as I step out of the shower he is pawing at me and rubbing his face against me almost desperately.
I am not sure if he is trying to save me from the water or remark me with his own scent maybe? If anyone has any experience like this please let me know what you do to help them not be so stressed while you shower. I appreciate any and all tips or suggestions!!
