Sankey!

Sankey!

Ever since I first joined this sub I’ve been waiting to make one of these lol

I know 30 apps is a lot, but I am a nontraditional student — I saved up for this and was not willing to risk going through a second cycle. I’m happy to answer any and all questions! Good luck everyone!!

Mutual breakup

Me and my boyfriend of 3 years (both 28) mutually called it this week. It’s so unfortunate when you love someone so much but just know you aren’t right for each other.

Last year, I learned that he’d been hiding a considerable amount of debt from me, weeks before we were set to go to Europe for a month with my sister and her boyfriend. His financial situation was completely avoidable, caused only by poor planning/foresight, and caused incredible discomfort for everyone else on the trip. I struggled hard to get past it, but I loved him and wanted to try.

A month later, I discovered that he’d been borrowing money from my brother in law and hiding it from me. A month after that, I learned that he was confiding in my own friends and siblings regarding personal details of our relationship to ask for advice. A few months later, he embarrassed me at a Hanukkah dinner where he was a guest of a guest. Each time he apologized, each time he said he was going to change, and I loved him so I stayed and tried.
I was lying to myself. I could not forgive him and the growing resentment caused me to treat him very poorly.

He began to resent me as well due to this treatment, but even still we wanted to try and fight through it. We lasted close to a year in this state but ended it a few days ago. I realized that I cannot heal and forgive him the way I need to while remaining in the relationship. I miss him so much but I know it was the right thing to do.
