What are your favorite samples in hip hop?
What are your favorite samples that are found in hip hop songs? This could be anything from a little piano part taken from a jazz song or a vocal recording. I'll start off with one of my favorites, which is the sample of the trumpet sound from "Today" by Tom Scott in the hip hop song "They Reminisce Over You" by Pete Rock and CL Smooth. They really chose the highlight of the funky jazz song and built a cool ass beat around it. It's one of my favorite beats of all time and is built almost entirely around this sample.
