LHR immigration control for transfer

Hello everyone. This might be a stupid question, but I searched and cannot find any information.

For international transfers at LHR, I am surprised to find that passengers (satisfying certain criteria) could simply follow the purple sign and transfer to any gates at any terminals without immigration control. This is different from the USA, where every passenger must clear the immigration first.

As both the UK and the USA do not have immigration control for departure flights, I thought the procedure should be the same. As far as I know, passengers could exit airside to landside freely unless there is an "international departure zone". So, how could LHR prevent transferring passengers from entering the UK illegally?

Edit: This question has been anwsered. No need for new comments unless it changes in the future.

In short: You’ll need to speak with a member of staff airside, at which point you’ll be added to a list of people wanting to exit airside. You’ll then be escorted out by a member of staff, at which point appropriate checks will be done. There is an observation that escorts happen approximately once an hour.

eSIM for travellers - Connect on Demand by AT&T

Hello everyone. I am an international traveller planning to visit the US for a few days. For several reasons, I decided to get an eSIM with AT&T. I found the "Connect on Demand by AT&T" service very suitable for me and might be the only official place selling a short-period eSIM.

It seems to be a new service, as I cannot find any information about it apart from the website. I guess this service was used only to do the "Turbo Live" stuff, and AT&T added the eSIM recently.

Following the instructions on the website, I downloaded the App but failed to purchase in advance, because the App says:

>You're currently outside of the United State.
To purchase this service, you need to be physically located within the United States.
We've detected that you're currently outside this region. Please come back to complete your purchase when you arrive!

It is ridiculous and contradicts what AT&T advertises on the website:

>Choose your desired connectivity start date and purchase service up to six months in advance, or opt to start your service immediately. ... Download your eSIM up to seven days before traveling. Your service will automatically start when you arrive at your destination in the U.S. or North America.

I hope someone could share some information if you know it or have used it. Is this service good to use? Why do I have to purchase it after arrival (doing all these stuff using airport wifi) instead of installing it in my home country? Are there other places to get an AT&T eSIM conveniently and securely?
