eSIM for South America

Please give me ideas for best eSIM for South American. My mum is travelling for 30 days and going to multiple places.
I don’t want to get a rural sim as she isn’t overly techie. I want something I can activate the day before so it’s good to go and will work consistently for data. Places needed; Peru, Argentina, Ecuador, Brazil & Chile - thank you!

Thanks

I compared eSIM prices before booking — the gap is bigger than I expected

I was looking for a 30-day France eSIM and compared a few of the more common options. This is what I found at the time of checking:

Saily
• 10GB — US$19.99
• 20GB — US$31.99

Alis eSIM
• 10GB — €5.09
• 20GB — €10.09

Roamic
• 10GB — €5.99
• 20GB — €10.99

Nomad
• 10GB — €12.29
• 20GB — €18.43

Airalo
• 10GB — US$15.50
• 20GB — US$22.50

Holafly
• Unlimited data for 30 days — around US$73.90

For normal travel stuff like Google Maps, WhatsApp, train apps, restaurant bookings, browsing, and social media, 10GB or 20GB feels like the more sensible choice for most people.

From the options I checked, Alis eSIM and Roamic came out lower for 10GB, 20GB. Holafly probably makes more sense only if you know you will be streaming a lot or using data constantly.

I’m also visiting a few places around Europe, so I’m still checking whether a France plan or a wider Europe plan works out better. Has anyone found another good-value option recently? I'm trying not to overpay.

South America - 20-day trip

What would be my best option for an e-sim to travel through Colombia, Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina and Ecuador. Chatgpt recommends Airalo, Nomad and Holafly. This last one has an "unlimited" plan for roughly $6/day, but reviews say that the unlimited thing isn't such.
Suggestions?

TIA!

Best plan for International traveling/working for 1 person?

I travel most of the year, all over. Mostly in South America this year. I have ported my number so I can receive SMS text messages, but my phone can't receive calls. I paid to make calls on an app, but looking to change to a real phone line. Some apps don't accept VoIP phone numbers like Google Voice.

So I'm looking for a phone plan with a good international plan. I tried Mint, but they only offer packages on top of the monthly subscription price. T-Mobile is good, except I'm only one person on one line, I don't want to buy the 4+ line option. US Mobile is the best one I've seen, but I'm still unsure if it will provide international coverage that I need.

I've been using eSIMs and not purchasing data to save money. The only reason I'm searching for a real phone line is I'm hoping to get a remote job and make/receive calls without hassle. Any advice?

Edit: If staying off a phone plan is possible, that would be ideal. I just have not found a way to be able to send/receive calls on the same number internationally. I do not need a bunch of GBs, I need an affordable and reliable way to make/receive phone calls while abroad.

eSIM recommendations for 10 day travel in Japan and private transportation from Narita AirPort to Airbnb in Tokyo

Hi everyone!
I’m going to Japan for 10 days and don’t want to pay the expensive Verizon roaming rates. I’ve found that Holafly and Ubigi are popular options. Any recommendations for reliable and affordable options? I’ll be staying in Tokyo for the first half of the trip and Osaka for the remaining 5 days.

I’d use data for GPS, translations, and maybe social medias.

Any tips and suggestions are appreciated!!

Oh, on a side note, any recommendations for private airport transport from Narita Airport to Airbnb’s? I’ve tried inputting the Airbnb’s address and no results are populating. Not sure if the destination address needs to be verified before reservation.

Thank you again!!

Cheaper alternative for pika SIM

I’m from Australia, I like pika sim as it requires no id or account, provides a phone number and can be used to verify accounts with WhatsApp and telegram however the plans they offer are pretty expensive. Was hoping anyone could refer me to another E sim that has the same services but at a cheaper price

Nice to see a Balkans eSIM that finally includes Kosovo

I was looking for an eSIM for an upcoming trip around the Balkans and noticed that MobiSIM now has a regional plan that includes Kosovo. I remember this being surprisingly difficult to find before, so it caught my attention.

I have used MobiSIM on previous trips and had a good experience, so I figured I'd stick with them. Everything activated without any issues, and it's nice not having to worry about buying a different SIM every time you cross a border.

Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is planning a trip through the Balkans and was looking for an option that covers Kosovo as well.

Multi country eSIM for Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand

I have a business trip coming up through Tokyo, Seoul, KL, and Bangkok for three weeks. Really do not want to juggle four separate eSIMs. I checked a few Asia regional plans then I got confused.

Anyone found one plan that covers all four and worked fine? Thanks  for any recommendations!

esim for mainland China, HK and Macau?

Hi, I'm looking for one eSIM that works in these three regions. Anyone has used one recently? Should I switch manually every time i cross the border?

Also, in mainland China. would I still need to use a vpn. or does mobile data work normally? I do have a vpn, but having to turn it on and off all the time is annoying. Thx!

Which eSIM are you using for the World Cup?

Hopping between host cities for the World Cup, did Mexico City (the stadium is incredible!), heading to Dallas then Toronto. My current eSIM has a fixed data allowance, and I'm almost out, so I'm thinking of switching to another eSIM brand.

For those who traveling across the three host countries, which eSIM are you using and how's it holding up? I'm considering Airalo, Redteago, and Holafly. Open to any other options. Also care about the throttling things.

Thanks in advance!

Has anyone heard of Roamic eSIM???

I was browsing through eSIMs on Trustpilot and saw a new one called Roamic eSIM?

Although the brand's new, seems like the parent company's been around for a while. Does anyone have any experience with them?

Testing your eSIM at home before the trip eliminates most airport arrival failures

After enough arrival failures I've accepted the setup process matters more than which plan I pick.

Worst one: connected through two cities, got a success confirmation after scanning the QR. At the final destination: no data. Spent 20 minutes in arrivals changing APN settings I didn't fully understand. Turned out the eSIM was installed correctly but not set as default data and roaming wasn't enabled. Two settings changes, working in thirty seconds. The prior twenty minutes were completley wasted.

The routine I run now:

Install before departure day, not at the airport. Save QR code and manual activation string as a photo in camera roll, not in email. Two-minute home test: switch default data SIM, enable roaming for that line, open maps and one messaging app, confirm both load, switch back.

This has removed every "eSIM failed" moment from my last four trips. The failure I kept experiencing had nothing to do with plan quality, it was always setup timing and settings.

What does your pre-departure eSIM prep look like?

Recommendations for Omani eSIM?

Hi there, I’m going on a research trip to Oman for 3 months - currently on a UK phone network provider. Please could anyone give recommendations of an eSIM or phone network to join that won’t break the bank if I’m using it for 3 months? Thanks!

Compared major no-KYC eSIM providers, sharing honest results

Haven't found anything useful on Reddit lately, most Google results are sponsored or self-promotion. I am privacy conscious and travel a lot, so took a few weeks to test the main ones properly.

Silent Link

The most trusted name in this space, longest track record on privacy forums. 160+ countries, no data caps or expiry, accepts most cryptos, has both data and call packages. Provides a GrapheneOS/Pixel activation string which is handy on degoogled devices. Downsides: priciest of the bunch, dashboard would be great, no way to check exit IP before purchase, and the popular regions sell out fast.

Nadanada

Few IP routing options and a wide selection of plans. Accepts XMR and most major cryptos. Bundles its own VPN, virtual numbers, and an AI chat tool, so it is more of a privacy suite than just an eSIM. Downsides: no GrapheneOS activation string, and still not sure which IP option is disclosed before purchase, so you find out which country you actually exit from after activation.

PikaSim

Has an app and accepts cards alongside crypto, which is convenient for anyone who does not want to mess with wallets or dashboards. Multiple IP routing options. Downsides: the website is not the easiest to navigate compared to others, no GrapheneOS activation string, service is relatively new so had to test without much info.

Stuff worth knowing before you pick:

All four skip KYC, no email or personal info required, and all take crypto.

No-KYC does not equal anonymous. The carrier still sees the eSIM IMEI, your IP is logged at the network layer, and the eSIM itself adds no encryption.

What you avoid handing over is your ISP, your identity, and your real-country IP (if the provider actually routes through a foreign exit).

For smooth usage, always verify your exit IP right after activation, regardless of which one you go with.

For real encryption, layer a VPN or mobile proxy on top. The eSIM solves the SIM-registration and foreign-IP side, not the encryption side.

Pick based on what you actually need, each one has its own perks and tradeoffs. Let me know if I missed a provider worth testing.
