Towing
Hello everyone, this is my 2005 Avalanche and I use it to tow for the most part. What I tow is not crazy heavy I would probably estimate somewhere around 4,500 pounds, less sometimes because I delivery party rentals so the trailer will get more empty as I deliver. I have the built in transmission cooler and I just replaced my radiator, I accidentally purchased the radiator that has the engine oil cooler as well but my truck doesn’t have that so I just left that part alone. I was going up a hill and the engine temp got all the way up to 220-235 and I pulled over because I thought it was going to over heat. Is this normal temp when I’m going up a hill?
And also if anyone has any tips for towing with these trucks it would be very helpful. I haven’t really had any major issues but eventually I plan to get a larger trailer and with it will come more weight so I would like to know how the truck can handle it. I know it has a towing capacity of 8K pounds but from what I’ve read here it doesn’t seem to perform very well as it gets closer to that
