Built in / floating desk mounting questions

Hey all,

I did post this over in r/BeginnerWoodWorking but didn't get any responses there so I'm asking here too.

I'm planning to install some butcher block countertops (2 of these) as built in desks in my playroom and have some questions on how to do the actual installation/mounting. I have two different ideas and would appreciate some help with the details. The attached pictures are the area I'm doing the installation in. I am planning to do the end desk as a fully floating desk. I would like to do the side desk as a semi-floating desk with the back attached to the wall and just a couple of legs (like the pipe leg in pic 2) in the front to support it.

My main question is how to attach the desks to the wall so that they are supported and will support a couple hundred pounds being loaded onto the desks. In pic 1 I have mocked up my two ideas. Do I use some upright 1x4 (1x2?) boards mounted to the stud between the desktop (top of pic 1) and the trim or do I use 2x4 (1x4?) ledgers (bottom of pic 1)?

Pic 3 is a shot of the trim in case it matters in the case of the uprights and pic 4 is the dimensions of the area where I'm installing the desktops.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Erlock

P.S. If anyone wants to give ideas on good lengths for drilling access holes through the desktops (every 2 feet? 3 feet?) or sources/brands/ideas for under desk cable management (like in this post) since I have to route network cables from elsewhere in the room, it would be appreciated too.
