How do I handle it when my girlfriend (19F) says 'I can't remember' about things I know she does remember? (20M)
My girlfriend and I have been together for 4 years. She often says “I don’t remember” when she wants to hide something, even though I know she remembers more. Usually, a couple of weeks later, she ends up telling me what actually happened. When I then ask her, “Didn’t you say this didn’t happen when you told me before?”, she replies that it did happen and that I must have heard her wrong or that I never listen to her. She then starts playing the victim, and I’m just left thinking “what the hell?”
In general, she cries very easily over tiny things, even when they don’t even involve her.
Last night I asked her if she had added any other guy on Snapchat. She said no. This morning she admitted that she had added him, but claimed she “just doesn’t remember doing it” even though she added him completely consciously.
This might sound like a small thing like, “so what if she added one guy?” But this same kind of behavior has been going on for a long time. I have no concrete proof that she has cheated, and I don’t want to jump to conclusions or imagine the worst, but it has repeated so many times that I’m starting to get genuinely worried.
