Proposed WARNO ROC/Taiwan Divisions Visualized Part 5: Hua-Tung Defense Command - A joint force of ROC, Singaporean, and Filipino forces attempt to evacuate Singaporean troops trapped in Eastern Taiwan during the PLA's invasion of the island.

Apologies for the delay, I wasn't able to get all the division visualizations done when I originally intended to. So here is the very delayed Part 5.

Part 1 is linked HERE

Part 2 is linked HERE

Part 3 is linked HERE

Part 4 is linked HERE

The original writeup for this division is linked HERE

Out of all the proposed divisions I designed, I really liked the concept of this one due to its unique gameplay style and immense deckbuilding variety (somewhat resembling a Red Dragon style coalition deck). With each nation being decently represented in the overwhelming majority of tabs, this division can be played as a deck focusing on an individual nation, or a mix of the three. The Philippines is simply not independently viable in WARNO, however adding them to a deck with the ROC and Singapore is far more interesting than just shoving them with the Americans. Additionally, this division features Singapore's heaviest possible armor, as Singapore's "Tempest" tanks were always stationed in Taiwan, and allows for the creation of the heaviest Singaporean formations in WARNO's timeframe as well (and in a scenario with a proper PACT adversary at that). The original design I had for the Hua-Tung Defense Command was more of a generic reservist bottom of the barrel division, but this multinational design is simply better in every way.

Next up will be the PACT side writeups of this proposed WARNO expansion, heavily focusing on the PLA, of course. They will take some time however, as the research has proven quite difficult, but I'm starting to get quite happy with the divisional concepts so far.

Proposed WARNO ROC/Taiwan Divisions Visualized Part 4: The 333rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade - The Mechanized Division that wanted to be anything but Mechanized.

Part 1 linked HERE.

Part 2 linked HERE.

Part 3 linked HERE

Based on the original writeup linked HERE.

Out of all of my division writeups, the 333rd is probably the strangest division due to the fact that Southern Taiwan is home to so many different military bases, all in close proximity. This means that this division has the rather unique distinction of featuring units from all 5 branches of the ROC Armed Forces (Army, Military Police, Navy, Marines, and Air Force). That, on top of the fact that for a "Mechanized" division there is a very large motorized element, leads to the 333rd playing very differently than what most people would expect from a mech div, as you get to heavily leverage Forward Deployed units alongside being able to quickly follow up with motorized infantry. Another interesting distinction of this division is that every single fixed-wing aircraft featured is either entirely indigenous or is a heavily modified locally built version of an existing aircraft, a distinction few divisions get outside of the major powers, as most smaller nations lack aviation industries of the scale that the ROC has. Overall, this is a relatively quirky "grab bag" division due to its unique basis, and as a result can be played in a variety of ways so long as once can figure out strategies to make the unique combination of units work together effectively.

I know that I've made a lot of these posts recently, and tomorrow will be the final one with Hua-Tung Defense Command and its attachments from allied nations.

Initially, I did not intend to post these visualizations at the rate that I have been posting, but I have some real life business to take care of over the next couple weeks so I just wanted to get these all out while I still I have the chance. I hope that is understandable.

Proposed WARNO ROC/Taiwan Divisions Visualized Part 3: The 234th Mechanized Infantry Brigade - With proper prep time, the ROC is not F-CKing around, as the cavalry has arrived armed to the teeth thanks to Central Taiwan's massive arms manufacturing industry.

Part 1 linked HERE.
Part 2 linked HERE.

Based on the writeup linked HERE.

The ROC's flagship division in WARNO. A good variety indigenous kit such as three indigenous jets, more glass cannon frankentanks, NATO flamethrower tanks, good unique MLRS (including cluster), and tons of mechanized infantry. Overall, this is an exceptionally well rounded and versatile division.

Oh, and the final possible 4th gen fighter in WARNO's timeframe...

The next division visualization will be the 333rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade, with representation of every single branch of the ROC armed forces.

Proposed WARNO ROC/Taiwan Divisions Visualized Part 2: Kinmen Defense Command (Ft. Total FOB Destruction, Shirtless Men with Crossbows, and AC-130 at home)

Part 1 linked HERE

Based on this writeup linked HERE

A serious contender for funniest meme division in the game, you get the ability to utterly annihilate PACT artillery FOBs with amazing aerial recon and the largest tube artillery in the world, while having your own supplies nice and safe in their unique bunker FOBs. Lots of outdated armor, marine infantry spam (shirts optional) and a literal gunship plane seal the deal (but watch out for your own gaps in air defense).

Naturally, the next division will be the 234th Mechanized Infantry Brigade, the ROC's premier division in WARNO.

Given the recent Asia discussion thread, I thought it might be interesting to make some visual overviews of my proposed ROC/Taiwan divisions for WARNO. To start off, here is the 584th Armored Brigade, scrambled to defend Taipei against a surprise PLA decapitation attempt

The original idea for these infographics comes from u/Ok-Armadillo-9345's long running series of infographics for official upcoming divisions and Nemesis vote candidates.

The full writeup for this division is HERE. As many people here might not be familiar with East Asia, visualizing out how divisions actually look like might make these writeups more accessible for newcomers.

Naturally, FOB Deletion Command Kinmen Defense Command will be next, followed by the others. The PACT division writeups for the hypothetical expansion I've been designing will probably not be ready for a while as the amount of research needed has been difficult combined with real life responsibilities.

Seven Months Later - New Units for ROC/Taiwan and Vietnam (ft. F-20 and B-52 at Home)

So it’s been a while since my original Taiwan and Vietnam writeups and I need to do a bit of updating. Unfortunately, Reddit REALLY does not like the lengths of those writeups, so editing them has proven difficult. I’ve done even more research since then, and there are a number of new units that can be added to both factions, many of which are particularly interesting. So, without further ado, lets get started.

New Taiwan/ROC Units:

The LARC-V would be a unique wheeled amphibious cargo vehicle, exclusive to unspec and Marine decks.

The LARC-V, returning from my WARNO Kinmen Defense Command writeup

The CM-21A2 Dragar would be a unique prototype IFV for the ROC Army, mounting a French Dragar turret on the regular CM-21, being a prototype unit appearing in the late 1980s. This would give the ROC a much needed IFV, which they currently lack.

The prototype CM-21A2 Dragar, The ROC's only IFV option in WARNO's timeframe.

The ROCA seemingly possessed the LAV-25, likely in limited numbers, used during development of the CM-31 and CM-32 APCs. In-game, this would be an autocannon armed recon vehicle, giving Taiwan’s small recon ground vehicle lineup a much needed addition.

An extremely rare photo of a LAV-25 in ROC service.

After much debate, I have decided that Taiwan is the most appropriate place to feature the long-awaited F-20 Tigershark. The prototype “Super-F-5” was designed and intended for export to the ROCAF before political reasons blocked the transfer. While the cancellation of the F-20 led to the creation of the Tiger 2000 and F-CK, in our universe we will have it where Taiwan purchased the handful of prototypes with the program’s looming cancellation (thus allowing it to coexist with the Tiger 2000 and F-CK) in 1985. This will give Taiwan a much needed good ASF for 1985 era decks, with the F-20 carrying a pair of AIM-7 Sparrow AAMs and AIM-9s on the wingtips. However, the F-20 will be vastly inferior to the F-CK-1A and Mirage 2000 5-EI fielded outside of era decks.

Images above are from an excellently made model of a ROCAF F-20, to give an idea of what it would have looked like.

Model images are from HERE

New Vietnamese Units:

The CHỈ HUY BRDM-2UM will serve as an unarmed, wheeled command APC. Apparently these are relatively common CVs for the VPA. The CHỈ HUY V-100 will be an alternative wheeled APC CV inherited from ARVN. Vietnam is quite secretive with their CVs, so images are all but impossible to find.

Vietnam did, in fact, possess ATGM vehicles at one point, specifically the BRDM-2 Malyutka and BRDM-2 Konkurs. It is unclear how long these lasted in VPA service as records are rather sparse, and Vietnam typically prefers infantry ATGMs, and images are lacking. Most likely they were prematurely retired.

Vietnam also possessed the SNAR-10 counter battery radar, serving as an exceptional optics ground recon vehicle in-game (like how WARNO’s Green Archer served as radar recon until the arty rework).

A Vietnamese SNAR-10

Interestingly enough, Vietnam possessed the Mi-1 helicopter. Very few images of these exist, but they were very much present. This would give Vietnam a very cheap reconnaissance helicopter, something they currently lack.

The only good image of a Vietnamese Mi-1 that exists.

Of special note is Vietnam’s indigenous An-26 bomber. A modified An-26 cargo plane with added exterior hardpoints, bomb sights, and a cargo hold full of bombs, this is basically a B-52 at home, designed for carpet bombing the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. In game this would carry THIRTY NINE 500lb bombs (12x on external hardpoints, and 27x in the cargo hold, pushed out the back), serving as a super heavy bomber for the Vietnamese.

Overall, as always, there's seemingly more and more that could be added to these nations, as they're some of the most interesting nations that could be added to Red Dragon.

Let me know your thoughts below.

ANZAC learns the unfortunate truth

>!The Vickers Mk11 is built upon the platform of the Timoney CM-31/Mark 8, a platform co-developed with the ROC and would become the basis for the mass produced CM-32 APC. If the ROC/Taiwan were ever added to Red Dragon, you'd see the APC the Mk11 is based on.!<
