2005 Mazda Tribute stall - help!

Ok, I have had this truck since new, it’s the 6 cyl., 3 liter engine. 197k miles. It’s been a great machine with the usual issues. Kept it for my 19 year old to learn driving, and now for my 15 year old who just got her learner’s permit.

So daughter 2 is out driving with her mom, says the engine idled low when they started it - the were bringing it to my house, and it stalled. No huge banging seizure, just stopped. Middle of road in a subdivision.

No dash lights or warnings, just stalled.

I push it to shoulder, open hood - check oil and it’s low, just registering on tip of dipstick - oh crap! I let it sit overnight to cool down, head over early next with some fresh oil - and I proceed to pit a couple quarts in. I let it sit for several hours; get in to crank it - nothing, dash lights come on, but the starter isn’t even engaging. 1st time, nothing - 2nd time, nothing. 3rd time, turn key - sluggishly starts, I put it in drive and proceed to get it to my house probably 200 yards away.

I sit with it for a second, the idle slowly comes up to 1200-1500 rpm, it smoothes out. I turn it off. Went to try to start next morn. No joy, nothing but dash lights. Took battery to be tested, AutoZone says, “battery is good.” So I check the fuses; one 20 amp is blown, replaced it - fingers crossed, get in and - nothing.

What else could be the problem? I hooked up my OBD2 dongle and the Torque program to read code, because surely - codes! No fault codes found.

What the @#$& could this be? Oil pressure sending unit? Without codes I have no idea where to look; maybe fuel filter?

Thanks in advance!
