TranscribeX v9.0 — Your Meeting Notes Now Email Themselves. Full Calendar Integration, CLI & MCP Support. Still 100% Local, Still Lifetime. (P.S. — Own a PS5? Read to the end for a surprise 🎮)

Problems:

Most transcription tools rely heavily on the cloud, forcing you to upload sensitive business meetings, private data, and confidential conversations to external servers — creating massive privacy risks and locking you into expensive, ongoing monthly subscriptions. And even after the meeting ends, the workflow still isn't done: your transcript sits in some web dashboard, disconnected from your calendar, and you're left manually copying summaries into emails, renaming files, and chasing down which recording belongs to which meeting. The recording was automated, but everything after it is still manual busywork.

Comparison:

AI meeting tools like Granola, Otter, and Fireflies offer polished automated note-taking and follow-up emails, but they do it by processing your conversations on their servers — with recurring monthly subscriptions, and in some cases bots that visibly join your calls. TranscribeX now delivers that same end-to-end automation — auto-record, auto-transcribe, AI summary, calendar context, and summaries emailed out automatically — but runs the entire pipeline 100% locally on your Apple Silicon Mac using local ASR and local LLMs (like Qwen and Gemma). Total data privacy, zero cloud processing, zero AI token costs, and a one-time payment instead of a subscription. The only thing that ever leaves your Mac is the summary email — and only when you tell it to. Plus, with the new CLI and MCP support, TranscribeX does something the cloud tools can't: it plugs your transcripts directly into Claude, agents, and your own scripts — no API middleman.

Quick recap for anyone new: TranscribeX transcribes meetings, dictation, and recordings entirely on your Mac — local ASR + local LLMs (Qwen, Gemma) running on Apple Silicon. No AI bots joining your calls, no audio uploaded to anyone's servers, no monthly subscription, no API keys or token costs.

What's new since v8.5:

📧 Meeting Summaries & Transcripts, Emailed Automatically: When a meeting ends, TranscribeX can now automatically email the AI summary and full transcript to whoever needs them — or you can email any summary or transcript manually with one click. No more copy-pasting notes into Mail after every call, and no more "I'll send the notes later." Your audio still never leaves the machine; the only thing that goes out is the email you choose to send.

📅 Deep Calendar Integration: TranscribeX now supports multiple calendars (work, personal, shared team calendars), and you can manually link any calendar event to any recording — so even ad-hoc calls get proper context. Exported files now include the meeting details from the linked event (title, time, attendees), and you can pick which calendar names your recordings. Exports finally know what meeting they came from.

⌨️ CLI + MCP Support: This one's for the power users. TranscribeX now has a full command-line interface, and it speaks Model Context Protocol — meaning you can wire your local transcription engine directly into Claude, agents, and your own automation scripts. Your transcripts become programmable, still without touching the cloud.

🔄 The Full Cycle, Completely Hands-Free: This is the release where everything clicks together into one automated pipeline. Your meeting starts → TranscribeX detects it and records → transcription kicks in the moment it ends → the local AI writes the summary → the calendar event links in the meeting context → and the notes land in everyone's inbox. From "meeting started" to "notes delivered" without touching a single button. This is the workflow we've been building toward since v1.

🖱️ Interactive Transcripts: Click any word in the transcript and playback jumps to that exact moment, with live word and segment highlighting. Finding "wait, what did they actually say?" now takes one click instead of scrubbing.

🤖 Smarter Automatic Recording: Transcription now starts automatically the moment a meeting recording ends, the default microphone is selected for you, and Teams auto-detection got a polish pass. Record → transcribe → summarize → email, hands-free, end to end.

🗂️ Quality of Life: Automatic + manual job archiving to keep your library clean, search inside Settings, smarter export filenames (timestamp first, so files sort chronologically), custom AI timeout and cancellable AI requests, a new fine-tuned Whisper Large model for Hinglish, and support for the ElevenLabs Scribe v2 Realtime model for those who want it. Plus a lot of bug fixes and performance work across the board.

I built ConsoleWise, a native Mac app for PS5 Remote Play + Cloud Gaming

Hey everyone, I’ve been working on ConsoleWise, a native macOS app for PS5 Remote Play and PlayStation cloud gaming.

The goal is simple: make it easier to play your PlayStation games from your Mac, whether your PS5 is in another room or you’re away from home.

A few things I focused on:

  • Play your PS5 when you’re not home Connect over the internet and stream from your own console while traveling, at work, or away from your TV.
  • Low-latency Remote Play ConsoleWise is built around responsive streaming, with adjustable resolution, FPS, bitrate, and video settings so you can tune the experience for your network.
  • Cloud gaming without owning a PS5 If you have PlayStation Plus Premium and cloud streaming is available in your region, you can browse and stream supported cloud games directly from your Mac.
  • Use your keyboard or DualSense Play with a DualSense controller, or map keyboard keys to controller actions when that’s more convenient.

It supports local and internet PS5 Remote Play, PlayStation cloud game streaming, 1080p streaming, 2K/4K local upscaling for Remote Play, custom bitrate controls, 30/60 FPS options, keyboard mappings, and DualSense haptics/adaptive trigger settings.

It’s available here:
https://consolewise.aowlly.com/

Clicking "View Pro Details" will take you to Gumroad.

Use code J3DU8RK for 50% OFF.

I’d love feedback from Mac + PlayStation users, especially around latency, setup, and what would make this more useful than the official client.

Enjoy!

TranscribeX v8.5 — Local LLM, App Video Recording, Custom App Auto-Detection, and On-Device Dictation Are Finally Here. Fully local.

Hey everybody!

I’m the developer of TranscribeX. Seven months ago, we launched the very first version of the app, and since then, TranscribeX has grown tremendously thanks to this incredible community. What started as a lightweight utility has matured into a powerful, comprehensive tool used daily by professionals, journalists, students, and teams for seamless meeting note-taking and audio archiving.

Problems: Most transcription tools rely heavily on the cloud, forcing you to upload sensitive business meetings, private data, and confidential conversations to external servers—creating massive privacy risks and locking you into expensive, ongoing monthly subscriptions. On top of that, the workflows are fragmented and intrusive: you either have to invite clumsy AI recording bots into your calls, fight with complex audio routing just to capture basic system sound, or wait until a meeting is completely over before you can even begin processing the text.

Comparison: AI meeting tools like Granola offer smooth workflow integration and automated note-taking, but they rely heavily on cloud-based processing and lock you into recurring monthly subscriptions. This means your sensitive business conversations and private meeting data are constantly being sent to external servers.
TranscribeX gives you that same seamless, automated background capture and real-time interactive summary experience, but does it 100% locally on your machine. By running local ASR and local LLMs (like Qwen and Gemma) directly on your Apple Silicon hardware, TranscribeX guarantees total data privacy with zero ongoing cloud subscription or AI token costs. Plus, TranscribeX goes a step further by offering features Granola doesn't, like full targeted application video recording and an AI-powered dictation engine built right in.

Core New Features:

  • App Video Recording: You can now record targeted application windows directly as full Video files instead of just capturing the audio track—perfect for archiving shared presentation slides or visual meetings alongside your text files.
  • AI-Powered Dictation Mode: We built a full dictation engine right into the app. You can turn your voice to text instantly in any macOS application, featuring a local AI pass that automatically cleans up structure and grammar as you speak.
  • Local LLM: We now support running advanced open-source models like Qwen and Gemma entirely on your Apple Silicon hardware. Because processing happens directly via your Mac's Neural Engine, you never have to buy API keys, pay for AI tokens, or worry about third-party rate limits.
  • Auto-Detect Any App: You aren't locked into a rigid list of video platforms anymore. TranscribeX can now automatically detect meetings and trigger recordings for any custom application you use (like Brave, Phone, Safari, Discord, Webex, or niche VoIP apps).
  • On-the-Run Transcript Summaries: Using integrated local LLMs (like Qwen and Gemma), you can interact with your live transcripts during the meeting. Ask the local AI in-meeting chat things like "What did I miss?" if you stepped away for a minute, or use quick prompts to clean up transcripts or "Make me sound smart" when drafting responses.

Please view the changelog for the details.

I built a local macOS app that silently auto-detects/records/transcribes/summarizes meetings and handles offline dictation (100% Local ASR + Local LLM, No Subscriptions)

Hey Reddit,

I wanted to share TranscribeX, a macOS app I've been working on that handles recording, transcribing, and summarizing meetings automatically.

The main focus is privacy—it runs 100% locally on your Mac, so your audio and transcripts never leave your device.

I launched it last year, and it’s been a massive learning experience:

  • 📈 We have over 7,000 monthly active users.
  • 💌 I’ve personally answered over 800 user emails to fix bugs, polish features, and build what people actually asked for.

Unlike most tools in this space, TranscribeX is a one-off payment with absolutely no subscription.

⚡ Complete, Hands-Free Automation:

The entire pipeline runs silently in the background. You don’t have to worry about managing the app or clicking "record" during a call—it just handles everything for you.

  • Auto-Detect: It instantly recognizes when a call starts. Supports Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, Slack, Discord, and Webex.
  • Auto-Record & Transcribe: It grabs the app audio and transcribes it without disturbing your meeting.(No bots)
  • Auto-Diarization: It separates and labels different speakers automatically. (99%+ accuracy). With the Voice Profile feature, you can get the real user name instead of Speaker 1/2/3...
  • Auto-AI-Summary: It hooks up to cloud models or runs entirely via Local LLMs, meaning you can get full summaries offline with zero API costs or token fees.
  • Auto-Export: It saves the transcript and summary straight into a PDF, TXT, SRT, or VTT file.

🛠️ Other core features:

  • Built-in Dictation: It includes a full dictation mode, so you don't need to spend extra money on a separate app. You can turn your voice to text instantly in any App.
  • Live Real-Time Transcription: Powered by specialized ASR streaming models, you can watch your meetings or live audio turn into text on your screen instantly as people speak, with zero post-processing delays.
  • Flexible ASR Models: You can swap between OpenAI Whisper, NVIDIA Parakeet, or Qwen ASR V3, plus options from Mistral and ElevenLabs depending on your setup.
  • Built-in Editor: If the AI messes up, you can manually edit text, merge/split paragraphs, fix speaker names, adjust timestamps, or reflow text.

Website (Latest Version/Preferred. 30% OFF):transcribex.io

Mac App Store: Also available directly on the App Store.

Let me know what you think or if you have any feature requests. I’ll be hanging out in the comments to answer questions!

Updates:

I’ve started a video with audio so you can test the real-time transcription. I specifically chose a clip with clear English, and some with significant background noise and multiple speakers to see how the system performs under pressure.

https://www.transcribex.io/captionvideowithaudio.mp4

Problem:

Transcription is still mostly after-the-fact. You record first, then wait for processing before you can read meetings or live conversations, this means you’re always a step behind.

Comparison:

Most tools today, don’t support real-time transcription, or have noticeable delays, or only work inside specific meeting platforms.

Real-time workflows are still surprisingly limited.

The Solution:

TranscribeX delivers true real-time transcription across your entire Mac.

It works not just for recordings, but for meetings and any app with audio output — capturing system audio and turning speech into text instantly as it happens.

No waiting, no post-processing — just live text while you listen.

The current models support English and 20+ European languages, with more languages coming soon.

Real-time translation is also planned for future updates.

TranscribeX is a privacy-focused macOS app that transcribes audio/video locally using Whisper, Distilled Whisper, NVIDIA Parakeet, Apple Foundation Models, and now Qwen models. It also supports YouTube downloading, diarization, segment editing, and exports like TXT/PDF/SRT/VTT — all without sending your files to the cloud.

Please view the changelog for the details.

How to get it (40% OFF - FINISH SOON):

  • Go to the website: https://www.transcribex.io
  • Click “Get it on Gumroad” and make sure you download the Pro version (apply the code at checkout, not the free version)
