[App] [Giveaway] Minimal Widgets — Customisable Widget App + 10 Lifetime Giveaway Codes

Hi everyone,

I’m back with another user-review-style recommendation of an app that I think many Android customization enthusiasts here would enjoy.

Last time I had posted about a launcher, and this time it’s a widget app: Minimal Widgets by JustNewDesigns.

There are already many widget packs on the Play Store, but a lot of them depend on KWGT (which is a separate purchase and also has a fairly steep learning curve if you want proper customization).

What I liked about Minimal Widgets is that it works completely standalone and is extremely customizable.

The widget collection is huge — clocks (analog, digital, even hybrid styles), weather, notes, AI widgets, music controls, compass, contacts with photos, quick settings toggles, and even small widget-based games like tic-tac-toe and snake.

The productivity widgets are also surprisingly useful — especially things like Pomodoro, bookmarks, clipboard, and task widgets.

But the biggest USP of the app is the customization itself:

- color editing

- widget resizing

- built-in themes (199 of them)

- dark/light/pastel styles

- and even a full color studio where you can customize background, text, and accent colors yourself.

You can also save backups of your setups locally, which is a really nice addition.

The app also includes a solid collection of wallpapers that pair well with the widgets.

I’ve attached a few screenshots of setups I made using the app myself.

And this time I haven’t come empty-handed 😄

The dev was kind enough to provide 10 Lifetime Premium codes for the community.

If you don’t want to wait, the dev is currently running a Play Store promo for the Lifetime version as well.

Note: I’m not the developer — just a user who genuinely liked the app.

The mockup image and minor edits (like removing city/location details) were done using AI tools for cleaner presentation/privacy.

Unable to use Double Tap to Lock

I have set Double tap to lock (given accessibility permission to Key Launcher) but it's not working.

Restarted my phone, tried clearing cache as well but there was no change. Please look into this issue.

I love trying out Android launchers and recently came across a new one while browsing Reddit — Phi Launcher.

Named after the 21st Greek letter, Phi (the Golden Ratio), the launcher already shows a lot of promise. Though advertised as “minimal,” it offers plenty of flexibility and customization to suit different kinds of users.

Right from installation, it gives multiple setup choices — minimal, fully customizable, or digital well-being focused. Even the app drawer style can be configured on first launch, with options like list, grid, or tile layouts.

Features

Phi Launcher includes almost all the essential launcher features:

Icon pack support

Grid customization

Folder and widget support

Notification dots and counts

In terms of performance, I’ve found it quite fast and battery efficient so far, though app opening speed/animations could still be improved a little.

Unique Features

  1. Spaces

This is probably the most unique feature for me. Spaces allow you to create different home screen setups for different scenarios and switch between them with a tap/long press.

For example, I currently use:

a default home screen,

a gaming setup,

and a social/media setup.

It helps keep the interface much less cluttered.

  1. Radial Wheel

There’s also a radial wheel quick-launch feature where apps can be arranged in a circular layout. It can be enabled or disabled depending on preference. I personally don’t use it much, but it’s an interesting addition.

  1. Focus Mode

Phi Launcher also has a surprisingly elaborate focus mode with scheduling options and digital well-being features.

One feature I found particularly interesting was the app launch delay option, where you can intentionally add a customizable delay before apps open to reduce impulsive usage.

  1. Customizable App Drawer Categories

You can create and customize categories in the app drawer, which helps with organization.

  1. Clock Customization

The home screen clock options are genuinely very nice. There are several styles, customizable sizing options, and even clocks with moving second hands — which became my personal favorite.

  1. Phi Widgets Page

Swiping left opens a dedicated Phi widgets page with:

detailed app usage statistics,

music widget,

quick notes,

to-do tools, etc.

The usage statistics page is especially well done.

I did miss a weather widget, though.

  1. Developer Screen

There’s also a dedicated page aimed at developers, where tools/data from platforms like GitHub can apparently be accessed directly without opening a browser. I haven’t personally tested this feature since I’m not a developer, but it seems like a thoughtful addition for that user base.

Swiping right opens the standard widget page for third-party and app widgets. Widget sizing is adjustable, but widget settings usually require opening the respective app instead of directly interacting from the widget itself.

Miscellaneous Settings

A special mention for the “Misc” section in settings — it contains several thoughtful customization options like:

status bar hiding,

system bar icon color control (light/dark),

charging animation customization, and more.

About the Developer

I’m not related to the developer in any way — just a user — but he has been very responsive to feedback and feature requests so far. There’s also a visible roadmap/planned features list inside the app’s help section.

Hopefully development continues actively, because the launcher definitely has a lot of potential.

This is my setup with Keylauncher for the contest.

I had first tried the Launcher with a lot of apprehension.. Especially the keypad but I am really blown away.. It's exceptional.. The speed, perfect notifications, customisation all on point 👍

Keep up the good work Dev.. Great job🙏🏼

Hi,

I have been using the Launcher for some time now.. Seems nice. Have run into a small issue-when I select any icon pack from the the settings and try to change it's size etc from the main icon settings menu-the thing works for The apps drawer but not for the Home page. The icon size can be changed manually from the home screen but that creates uneven sized icons.

Also it would be nice if we could select multiple apps to be added to the homescreen at one go. Now we have to select one app at a time.
