Travelling to Indonesia

Hello all,

I’m planning a trip to Indonesia in mid June with my family. I think we have a total of 14 days (including travel time).

We are a group of 4 (including my parents in their early 60s).

We were thinking of flying in from London, either to Jakarta or Bali, travelling a bit and then seeing Singapore right at the end for 1-2 nights before returning home.

Are there any particular recommendations of islands you suggest?
We don’t drink alcohol or smoke, and don’t need a bit ‘party/night club scene’.

Would just love to be able to see some of Indoesia’s culture and natural beauty - temples, rice terraces, beaches, mosques etc?
We also love exploring markets, trying local food.
I’ve seen some of the temple and volcano hikes which I am also v interested in, but may be tricky for my patents (so if there are particular high view points that have lift or driving access, that would be fab)!
Some of us swim and others don’t, so need to keep that in mind.

Any tips or recommendations on where to visit would be great?

Budget isn’t as much of an issue - we travel a fair bit and tend to stay in 5* hotels, so happy to spend if needed so that we can have a nice time!

People have recommended Lombok as its Muslim friendly.
I’ve also heard a lot about Komodo Islands, Java and so much more that I’m stuck.

Holidays we’ve loved previously - Malaysia (we did KL, Penang and Langkawi), Egypt, southern Spain

Thank you all!

IMT3, not passed MRCP

Hi all,
Just looking for some advice/wisdom.

I’m an IMT3 trainee in the UK and have struggled to pass MRCP part 1. I’ve attempted it a few times, each time close to the pass mark but not quite crossing it.

I think I’ve got to the point of mental block when it comes to the exam.
It’s been complicated by a very unstable home situation, bereavements, long commute of up to 3 hours daily (but unable to relocate) so I’ve found it hard to focus on the exam itself outside of work hours.

I don’t struggle with clinical work, and have worked as IMT3 on the same med reg rota as the HSTs. I’ve done many independent clinics, no procedural skills issues, really good feedback from MCR and MSF.

I’m not sure where to go from here. I know my ARCP outcome won’t be favourable but not sure what my options are.

I plan to relocate post IMT3 as my personal circumstances have changed and so in that sense, the home stress and commute element is massively improved.

I guess I could leave the programme, sit and hopefully pass and then update my ARCP outcome? Or is this the end and should I just give up now?

Any words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated.
