Anxious about dental care with a nervous pup
I have a 2 (soon to be 3 year old) Italian greyhound. He is the sweetest thing but has such a hard time at the vet. He takes gabapentin and trazodone before appts and is still pretty nervous (I.e., last appt he still pooped out of fear).
Since iggys are prone to dental health issues, I know I need to get him in to have a cleaning. He has a lot of build up and two molars are dark black/brown. He had quite a bit of tartar when I rescued him.
I need to schedule a dental cleaning but I am so scared that the stress of being with others when going to sleep or waking up is going to cause a heart attack. He has a really hard time with other people and it takes a while for him to warm up. I feel like I’m working this up in my own head but how worried should I be?
