Weight Watchers or Healthi - I'm trying it out
I'm a 55M and been using Weight Watchers for most of 30 years now. It helped me get from about 290 lbs at my highest ~30 years ago to where I am today at about 170. I've been around this weight for the last ~15 years or so. I'd really like to be at about 156 (I'm 5'3") but hey here I am.
I spent the last ~6 months not tracking (though I'm paying the $11/month rate for the app which I guess they call "Core" now).
Mostly, I try to stick to the basic WW principals which I have internalized as:
- High fiber, low fat diet, plenty of vegetables (with an emphasis on the non starchy ones) as well as fruits
- Low fat proteins in moderation, 2/3 of my plate in meals is usually veggies
- Eat until satisfied not until stuffed (this is tough sometimes!)
- Drink plenty of water
- Daily exercise (I walk about 11,000 steps per day at a moderate ~3mph pace)
My weakness is diets sodas and salty snacks. These go hand in hand for me. I'm not always able to keep them in proper moderation. I know these are the ones that are holding me back from hitting my goal.
I am not interested in the new drugs, but have no problem with people who are. I do not do "social media" so, I don't need that in the app, but I get why it is there.
I hate/hate/hate when an app I am paying money for tries to "upsell" me on things. When they clutter up the UI with that junk I hate it more.
I'm trying really hard to give the new WW app a fair try. It's mostly new since I last used it.
This week I'm also trying out the Healthi app (free - the version that uses "bites" they call it "Conquer Cravings") for a side by side comparison.
I'll try to post back here how it goes.
