Is it worth traveling to Australia during late December to early January? Concerned about holiday closures

I have the ability to travel to Australia from around December 20 to early January, but I am pondering whether it is worth doing so during the Christmas/New Year holiday season. Are most things going to be closed?

I am a fairly active person and wanted to fly into the Sydney area. My itinerary would involve the typical tourist activities. For example, I really wanted to do the Bondi to Coogee walk and enjoy the ocean pools.

Should I pick another travel destination due to possible holiday closures? Thailand was my alternative if my options are limited in Australia. Would appreciate any insight!

Edit: taking Whitsundays off the table during this time of year

So I (30F) am new to a city where I am currently in nursing school. Today I was getting my hair cut and the stylist (who is also a lesbian) was just making conversation and asking a lot of questions. I told her that I am in the middle of a career pivot and after some back and forth she asked if “I was by myself out here” and then “are you single and do you date?”. I didn’t expect to be asked that and also didn’t want to be a creep, so I just responded that I was mainly focusing on my ABSN program in order to switch careers.

If someone asks you a question like that unprompted, is it an indication of interest? I am not a blindly optimistic person and like to think of myself as practical; my default position right now is that my single brain is trying to create meaning out of a casual conversation where none exists.

I feel that hair stylists are usually talkative and extroverted types (at least she seemed to be). For all I know they may throw these questions at clients all the time just to keep conversation going. But I am also wondering if I may have missed yet another basic social cue. What do other women here think? Is it routine for women to ask questions like these in this setting?

Looking for medications that preferably have little or low side effects. I’m not sure what my options would be outside of BC or antidepressants. Not currently on any other medications. If age is relevant, I am a 30F. Has anyone found something that worked for them and is safe for long-term use?
