Deep breath people... I know my situation isn't ideal, but comments of "you shouldn't have" or "sell it" aren't helpful. If you don't have firm, proven advice, please avoid stepping in. Thanks.
I just got a '97 automatic, and as I have learned quickly, it is better to buy a manual, because these 97 automatics have a variable transmission that has parts which will fail and aren't available.
So my best options are preventive maintenance to make a bad situation good for as long as possible.
These seem to be the best steps:
Replace the brushes.
Replace the transmission oil.
Replace the metal powder?
I am not sure about number 3. can the powder replaced? Will that help?
Regards the oil, what US available oil should I get.
Regards the brushes, will this help?
Right now the engine runs great and there is occasional, minor shuddering at stop and start, but not consistently so yet.
