Nikon ZR – Can photo and video shooting modes keep separate settings?

Hey everyone,
I’m trying to understand something on my Nikon ZR and I can’t figure out if this is possible.

What I’d like to do is keep photo mode set to A (Aperture Priority), but when I switch over to video mode, I’d like the camera to automatically stay in M (Manual) mode for video.

On some cameras, photo and video settings are completely separated, but I’m not sure how Nikon handles this on the ZR.

Right now it seems like when I change modes, some settings carry over and I can’t understand if there’s a way to make photo and video behave independently.

Am I missing a menu option or custom setting somewhere?
Would really appreciate help from other Nikon users. Thanks!

Is it normal that an Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress B SE 1TB can’t handle Nikon ZR R3D RAW at 59.94p?

Hey everyone,

I’m testing an Angelbird AV PRO CFexpress Type B SE 1TB card with my new Nikon ZR, and I noticed something.

The card seems to work perfectly fine for most recording modes, but when I switch to R3D RAW recording at 59.94p, the camera either refuses to start recording or throws a warning suggesting the card isn’t fast enough. At 25p it works like a charm.

From what I understand, the AV PRO SE should still be a pretty fast card, so I’m wondering:

  • Is this expected behavior with the SE version?
  • Does Nikon require sustained write speeds that exceed what the SE can deliver for high frame rate RAW?
  • Has anyone here successfully recorded R3D RAW 59.94p on the ZR with this card?

I’m trying to understand whether this is a limitation of the card itself, a Nikon compatibility issue, or if I might have a faulty unit.

Would love to hear if anyone has tested this combination.

Thanks!
