I am facing a issue where i am unable to change my aperture. If i change it to something other than the highest aperture (e.g. f/1.4 or f1.8) it chages for a slipt second then revert back to the lowest value the biggest aperture. It happened suddenly and now it continues with all my sony lens. Anyone faced this? Any solution?
You may have seen the beta as ZR Ctl, sadly had to change the name but it's still the same great app with a ton of new features I think you guys will love, works with most Z-series cameras including the ZR, Z8, Z6III, Z9, and more :)
Hi, I’m a new ZR user and am just starting my journey with the Nikon system. I have some concerns about the footage I prepared for a client. This is my third shoot with this camera; I know I still have a lot to learn, but I’d like to know what I’m doing wrong. I feel like the quality of the delivered video doesn't live up to the gear's capabilities. This particular project isn't exactly something to be proud of: difficult conditions, no time for prep, and general dissatisfaction with the final result (to put it mildly). I’ve never been a color grading expert, but with the ZR and its codecs, I feel completely out of my depth. Despite my best efforts, the image quality still seems poor to me. I can't even get a handle on using LUTs 🤷♀️
Looking at these stills, can you point out exactly what’s wrong? Is it just the colors, or is it a combination of bad lighting, poor framing, and incorrect settings? Or am I just overthinking it and the footage is actually fine? For obvious reasons, I can't share the video itself here, but I hope photos are enough for an assessment.
ZR + Tamron 28-75 f/2.8, H.265 10-bit N-Log. I only used ISO 800 and 6400 while shooting.
Made this music video by myself. So I wanted to make it myself as easy as possible. Got me a small carrying car on wheels where I put on one smal 200w light and that was it. Shot everything on one lens at 5.6 and above. Only the bedroom scene that was light harsh was at 1.4.
6k Red raw.
I currently shoot an RX1R with a fotodiox grip. Not exactly an ergonomic camera but I find it well balanced.
Im looking to finally move to an ILC camera. Im leaning towards Nikon due to the color science, screen quality, better build and NRaw
Im interested in shooting NRaw video. But realistically probably wont want to deal with the file sizes often. The Zf 10 bit 4:2:0 codec is decent but not par with NRaw footage, especially in lower light.
Mainly Im wondering about the manual focus experience. The Z6III has a higher resolution evf.
Is it the better choice?
Main lenses I want to use:
Voigtlander 35mm APO Lanthar
Voigtlander 40 1.2
Nikon 40mm f2
Meyer Goerlitz Biotar 75mm
Watched quite a few comparisons that shows the ZR has a color cast, and doesn’t match perfectly the colors of the other Red cameras.
Doesn’t this make using a standard CST or Red Luts inaccurate for the ZR, as they are designed for another color profile?
Anyone having issues with stabilization on the zr? I’ve tried normal and sport mode but it’s completely unusable and wobbly as hell even on simple shots. Honestly I can’t believe this isn’t talked about more as it actually completely ruins shots.

In the photo, we see the z50, z50II, z6III, and ZR.

Hai.
I want to buy a Nikon ZR. Still confused about which best CFexpress Type B is for? Is the CF Express Type B 4.0 compatible with the Nikon ZR? The ZR card slot doesn't support Lexar CF Express Type B. I put the link on the Nikon website
Thank you
Hey everyone,
I’m trying to understand something on my Nikon ZR and I can’t figure out if this is possible.
What I’d like to do is keep photo mode set to A (Aperture Priority), but when I switch over to video mode, I’d like the camera to automatically stay in M (Manual) mode for video.
On some cameras, photo and video settings are completely separated, but I’m not sure how Nikon handles this on the ZR.
Right now it seems like when I change modes, some settings carry over and I can’t understand if there’s a way to make photo and video behave independently.
Am I missing a menu option or custom setting somewhere?
Would really appreciate help from other Nikon users. Thanks!
