Lying about your experience level in a beginner game is poor sportsmanship.

Look folks, I know it's a bluffing game. It's expected that you're going to lie about stuff related to the game. But let's not be lying about stuff like this and preying on people's good will, especially in a game for beginners.

I ran a beginner game of TB online in a public lobby recently and for the most part everything went well. But there was one player who was laying it on thick about how they're new and hadn't played in months and making very obvious rules mistakes.

I won't bore you with all the minutiae, the point is at the end it came out that they're not actually new. They still lost cause they were overselling it at the end and some of the more experienced people started to suspect. But it left a bad taste for many of us. There were half a dozen relatively new players in the game and even though they won, it didn't seem like they felt very good about it as they'd spent part of the game thinking they were helping this brand new player.

It's one thing if you're gonna join a game that's specifically advertised as being for experienced players and you want to bluff that you don't know what you're doing. I personally think it's still kinda cheap and not great sportsmanship, but veterans should be able to handle that.

But don't gaslight the newbies please. Let's not ruin a newbie's perception of Clocktower by trying to hustle them. It's not cool.
