Hi, my Asian shield just molted to i8. I never had a mantis this big. I fed blowflies till now, but they seem too small to provide enough for her now. There are crickets the right size, but I know crickets aren't the best to feed. What do you feed mantids this big?
As I said in the title. I came home 10 minutes ago and saw she molted. Her new skin seems slimy or wet. I think it's normal because they pump themselves with liquid to get out of the old skin, but I just want to double check.
So as I said I want to build an enclosure and buy dart frogs. I am a complete frog beginner. The tank is 100cm × 60cm × 60cm. My question is, what is stuff I have to keep an eye on. Like what plants are a must have or what I should use for the ground. I just want to get some information about what other people do so I have an easy start. Thanks
She has this black stuff in her mouth. Is it normal or should I be concerned. She has had it since I got her.
So I have been thinking of this for a long time now. Ofc mantids are bigger after molt, but it seems like they are getting smaller again after 12hours or so. Still bigger than before, but smaller than right after the molt. Do they shrink because the skin dries, or do they just seem to be smaller because you are already "used" to her new size?
So my food has delay, and I want to feed her. In my room there is a big housefly. Can I feed it to her?
So my problem is, I want to heat up my enclosure by around 2-4 degrees. I have a heat mat, but it appears to be not working very well. I have it on the back side of the enclosure, because I have like 7cm of soil on the ground
Hi, so this is the temporary enclosure for my Rhombodera valida. I will get her tomorrow and she is in i3-i4. I will wait till she gets bigger to move her to her final enclosure. While I had my old hierodula I experienced, that a big enclosure is nice but it is hard to find and feed your mantis when she is still small. So this time I decided to start in a smaller one at first
-Air vents at the top and on the side.
-big spectrum LED light at the top. (I will place it a little bit differently later, rn it's touching the net)
-roughly 12cm In depth, 28cm high (soil to net), 24cm wide (4.7in/11in/9.4in)
-insect friendly construction foam back, I formed it and cut it. Later on silicone and cocos humus on it.
I first played Ready or Not some years ago. And there was a mission I have in mind. It was like a tall mansion on a Mediterranean hill, with long distance shootings. I found this screenshot online. Did the Devs ever say, why they removed it or what happened to it?
So I want to buy another mantis. I have an empty terrarium with a mesh top. I know orchids need a bit more ventilation. Is there any species that would fit. Please no ghost or hierodula.
So my mantis was hanging upside down as usual, after some time she put one of her legs to the inner side (like when spiders dying) after some seconds a second leg. When pray came by she caught it and fell down, because she had only one leg holding on the net. Now she lays on the floor and eats her prey. What yould I do
