Need suggestion/advice on gear weight
Hello. I have been a wildlife and bird hobby photographer for many years and have generally been happy with my equipment upgrades over the years. However, as I get older and have been experiencing some skeleto-muscular issues, I have to choose gear based on weight more than cost. For a few years I have been using a Canon 7D Mark II with a Tamron ef 100-400 lens (because it is lighter than the Canon version). I am trying to decide if it is time to move to a mirrorless, like the R6 Mark II. The problem is that while the mirrorless camera is lighter than my dslr, it seems (if I understand correctly) that I will loose some reach with both my Tamron ef 100- 400 mm and the Canon rf 100-400, which would be less useful for birds. Does anyone have a recommendation for mirrorless plus lens that would be good for birds but no heavier than what I have now (which is at the edge of my lifting capabilities). Thank you!
