So currently my husband (34M) and I (30F) work full time and have a 1.5 year old which we have a nanny for. Our nanny makes about half my salary, but I always have carried the insurance since mine was better with my company, but recently my husband’s benefits changed and now we are on his insurance, which sparked the conversation about me switching to part time.
I am an accountant and in a high stress position but am fully remote, but do work long hours and honestly I just miss my kid which makes me consider it. I have two job offers currently that would let me do a flexible part time hours so I can take care of my child and work part time. Because of what we pay in childcare me switching to part time doesn’t really affect our monthly budget. We also are considering having another child.
Financially we can make the move, but I have worked since I was 14 so the idea of being part time is a bit scary.
What is your experience with this switch? Was it hard to go back full time down the road? Any regrets? When releasing your nanny how much severance did you give?
