Live in BF makes 3x my salary, still splits bills “50/50” help!
My boyfriend and I have been loving together since January. When we decided to live together we discussed finances and decided to split all bills that we share (rent, utilities, groceries) 50/50. When he moved in he was making around $70k/year as an operations manager. I am a teacher at a charter school and only make about $50k/yr. He recently got a new job where he’s making nearly $120k/yr and I’m really concerned that the 50/50 split is actually incredibly unfair to me. I would like to be able to save money and actually afford to do things for myself like get my hair done, pay for yoga classes, etc. I’ve tried to bring this up to him and he doesn’t seem to understand when we are “splitting everything 50/50”. I don’t want to seem unappreciative or that I’m taking advantage of him in any way. I just want to feel like we are on equal ground. Would love some advice!!!
