Thinking of making something set in West Virginia
I'm making an animated project set in West Virginia in 2009. The issue is that I'm not from the state and I'm not even from the country. I've read that it was a rather poor state with low educational results, but I obviously don't want to depict West Virginians as "poor and stupid". And between what the Internet says and real life, there must be some differences.
The project is set in a fictional city in Greenbrier County. It wouldn't be doable in real life because it has around 30k inhabitants, more than the entirety of the county (hence the fictional aspect) and a community college.
I'm asking you guys for things I should know, I want to make that city as "realistic" as possible while still keeping a hint of fiction.
