Potty Training Help
So I’m at a loss and need some help please. My daughter is 2 yrs 8 months old. I’ve tried potty training her 3 times now, currently trying again but get stuck each time.
This time and the last time I tried we are getting success in the potty for pee *on occasion* when we prompt.
We are getting stuck in knowing how to navigate her not telling us she needs to go and her not understanding when she needs to pee. I get high hopes because she will pee on the potty every so often and has told me once “I need to pee” and successfully peed in the potty that time, but she is still having a ton of accidents. I don’t know how to tell if she’s making progress and it’s stressing me out because it’s so sporadic and I don’t know if what I am doing or saying is helping or causing a regression.
We tell her “when you get the funny feeling way down low, stop what you’re doing and go go go” or “do you have the funny feeling in your tummy? Your dancing and I think you need to go, let’s go” and it’s not helping. She seems to get embarrassed when she has an accident and becomes moody and controlling when we say “look, your peeing. Pee goes in the potty. Let’s go to the potty”.
How do I navigate this? Any tips? I’ve started using rewards and it’s still sporadic.
