Anxious Tortie Mom (vet)
Hi Tortie crew!
My cat and I are both anxious ladies when we go to the vet. We have her yearly appointment tomorrow and I’m already dreading it.
I’ll be giving her her standard gabapentin doses 12 hours before and a couple hours before (per vet instructions) and they will still likely need to sedate her if they want to get blood and urine (which they will). It breaks my heart to see her so stressed out, and of course I get more stressed out, and it’s a nasty spiral for both of us.
The last time she was at the vet, we had to sedate her, and she had such a hard time coming out of it. She lost control of her bladder twice. Once was immediate, and the second time was in my bed with me the next morning. Even though they “reverse” it before we leave, she was still so out of it for over a day. I’ll be reminding them that this all happened, but I’m not sure if that will make any difference.
Is there anything you guys do to make the process less stressful for you and/or your baby?
Thanks in advance!
