HSG very easy
I just had an hsg done today. I was absolutely panicking for it. breathing so fast and about to cry. I took 600mg of ibuprofen beforehand but nothing else. I had virtually no pain. the speculum was the worst part by far. I honestly didn’t even know the catheter was in until she said “it’s almost done”.
I have always had pain with Pap smears. This was far easier for me than any Pap smear has been. I typically have a very low pain tolerance.
I want to be clear that I am not negating anyone’s painful story. I am curious why it’s so painful for some and nothing to others. Is it the providers technique or an anatomy thing? Truly I’m so sorry to those who experienced pain. I did want to share this story because I only saw horror stories online and it made me absolutely terrified, so I want to let people know that it’s not guaranteed to be painful.
