Phil learns Claire is the one that “got away”

i love this episode one of my favorites. I think it perfectly captures how this show can be funny and real/relatable af. It captured Phil and Gloria’s dynamic early on (the funny) while also showing how Phil sees Claire is under appreciated by him sometimes (the realness). I also think this portrays Phil’s awkwardness sometimes around Gloria. Some call it “creepy” or disrespectful but i think it was supposed to be the reaction of a man interacting with a woman that looks like Sophia Vegara lol. They were mistaken for a couple in this episode which he doesn’t think much of until it kept happening, which makes him awkward like the kiss at the basketball game because as we all Know Gloria is a stunningly beautiful woman (which in hindsight is the joke of all the “I got Gloria” moments…

Unpopular Opinion

Cam being overly dramatic is what makes him loveable to me. “Mitchel you know one of my new year resolutions is to cry less in public please help me get through this dayyy”😂

cam and Mitch’s son

honestly one thing i wish would’ve happen watching the show over is Mitch and Cam getting their son (Rexford) a little sooner than the final season. I think the dynamic with a 2nd child plus Lily would’ve been hilarious and made for more writing. Maybe would’ve been a nice addition after they got married, who knows lol this thought just came to mind.

Claire does love Gloria

one of my favorite feel good moments of the whole show & definitely my favorite moment between Claire and Gloria, especially after the whole “coal digger” fiasco lol

when Dylan stood up for himself

ngl Dylan had some great scenes when he was on the show. as much as i wish hailey’s storyline was different seeing him & his character development more in the last seasons was great imo

top 5 mf scenes

i will never get over the writing in this show. the storylines for 3 separate families in a 20 min episode. they deserved every award.

“Coal Digger?” S1:E5

wanted to have a quick discussion about the gold digger jokes through out the rest of the show after this ep. from S1. Though after the whole “coal digger” fiasco that would’ve been the last of it but they actually leaned more into for the jokes which i kind of found distasteful since it was a big deal when Claire said it even thought lots of people thought it or assumed Jay was her father lol. What do you think or how did you feel about those comments?
