MLS vs Rad Therapy

(NYC/NJ BASED)
I currently have a bachelor degree in an unrelated field (not science). I am really interested in being either a radiation therapist or medical lab scientist. I’m trying to choose between Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) and Radiation Therapy and would love some input from people in either field. I am located in NYC/NJ area.

I’m looking for a career that is:
AI-resistant
Good pay + strong job demand
Low burnout/stress
Not constantly rushed or high-pressure
Active, but not physically exhausting
Good work-life balance (when I clock out, I’m DONE)
Low emotional/trauma exposure. This is where I am struggling with radiation therapy because I definitely absorb emotions..
Safe for my body
Flexible scheduling / possible travel contracts

Basically, I want a career where I can work at my own pace, have energy after work, and actually see myself being happy long-term.

Could you tell me more about your happiness/dissatisfaction in MLS?

HTL or MLS

hey everyone! i have a bachelor degree & switching to science. i wanted to hear from real people who work in histology. do you suggest going straight to HTL or getting an MLS and then eventually training into HTL for more options?

id really appreciate your input. and reasons why you went either direction.

chemical exposure

hey everyone. im 24 M, and i have been interested in being a histotech for more than a year now but honestly the chemical exposure is a big deterrent for me. just feeling sad and confused because the career sounds nice and i was excited because i thought i figured it out, but I also dont want to risk my health so I just feel lost. I would appreciate any input or advice. not sure where to go from here.

is histology worth it?

I am 24, male, and genuinely just want to hear from histotechs (HT or HTL) on whether this field is worth going to school for, or if I should pursue a different allied health career. I am located in the NYC area but also open to going to other states, etc.

  1. If it is worth it, what makes it worth it to you?

  2. If not, are you pursuing something else? What do you recommend?

I have struggled a lot with deciding a career and I would really appreciate some guidance from others.

xray tech vs histology

Hey everyone! I have been really considering both career paths and truly dont know which to pursue. Are there any xray techs who wish they pursued histo? or vice versa? what are your thoughts?

A little about me: I am young, love working travel contracts, value a slower paced environment but open to different work environments since I also value strong earning potential. I like collaborating with coworkers or working independently, and I am also really good with people! I value good work-life balance, strong pay, and per diem / part time work too since I love flexibility in my schedule.

I just want to make the right choice, any input is so appreciated. I honestly would love to hear your experiences, any regrets or any choices you made that youre happy with involving your career!
