Princess has redeployed the Enchanted Princess from Istanbul on all itineraries in 2027, which is majorly disappointing because the Med itineraries this ship had next year were perfect for us in terms of calling in ports we hadn't yet visited. It's created some major alterations for us and others, it seems, throughout the 2027 season, and we're looking at alternatives right now. But we're worried that other ships in the fleet that are also calling in Istanbul or any port in Turkey, more broadly, will possibly be affected as well, if it is indeed because of a "security situation" (a rumor), and not just port congestion or other logistical issues/booking demand issues.
This is a commiseration thread for any of us affected. Anyone else waiting with bated breath over how significant the changes will ultimately be? Anyone else already pondering cancelling?
[Edit from later today: the revised itineraries have been posted on the website]
I know there are a good handful of us in this sub who have been on the Star Princess for the past 18 days as the ship made her maiden transit through the Panama Canal before arriving in Seattle for her inaugural Alaska season. It's truly been a wonderful cruise and I've met some really great people, crew and fellow guests alike. I know I'm really going to miss this one.
I've done a last-minute AMA thread for my last few cruises to field any questions people may have before I disembark but I always started the thread so late, so I'm starting this one at least a day earlier.
So if you have any pressing questions that you think only a person currently onboard the Star Princess can actually answer for you, do let me/us know before May 3! If I can't help, I hope others might be able to assist!
