Marx's Realism.

"Thucydides and perhaps Machiavelli’s The Prince are most closely related to me, owing to the absolute determination which they show of refusing to deceive themselves and of seeing reason in reality—not in ‘rationality’, and still less in ‘morality’.”

— Twilight of the Idols

Is it fair to categorize Marx with Thucydides and Machiavelli? Darwin and Copernicus? I wouldn't call myself a Marxist, but when I read him he seems to have a "worldly" view of society and systems. And that his approach requires the ability to resist the seductive pull of morality (which a lot of socialists succumb to, including many of his time.)

Nietzschean critique of socialism aside, considering Nietzsche wasn't too familiar with Marx in particular, what do y'all think he would have to say regarding this scientific or "worldy" approach of Marx?
