Up to now I’ve made a couple mistakes.

  1. Currency exchange is absolutely destroying my returns (32 shares at 133$USD and only even rn)

  2. My positions in other stocks are way too small to matter.

Could anyone give any more guidance on what I should do.

Or simply point out my mistakes and be as transparent as you can I don’t mind being told that I’m an idiot I’d rather find out now than later.

Trading as a business?

I’m relatively new to investing and I’m trying to understand when trading stocks could be considered carrying on a business rather than simply investing.

I mainly invest in semiconductor stocks, which can be quite volatile Nebius Amd etc. Because of that, I may want to sell some positions when they’ve gone up significantly and potentially buy back in later.
Is there a specific number of trades per year/month, or a certain frequency of buying/selling, that would cause the CRA to consider this business activity rather than investing?

Or is it based more on the overall circumstances and intent behind the trades?
I’d appreciate any advice or personal experience, especially from people who have dealt with this situation.
